Our Team

Malcolm MacCallum

Dean of Residential Students (DRS)

Malcolm MacCallum (Mal) is a former school teacher and school principal in both public and private sectors and in both primary and secondary contexts. Most recently he has been working for a national arm of the Anglican Church, The Anglican Board of Mission. His role was Reconciliation Coordinator and he worked mostly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders supporting them in ministries, many of which were in remote parts of Australia. Mal has experience in management on a variety of fronts including tertiary and secondary student accommodation and team leadership. Mal has a Bachelor of Education, a Diploma of Teaching and a Certificate in Design and Technology Education.

Mal is married to Lee and they have six adult children between them. He is a keen ocean goer, particularly enjoying surfing, but diving, fishing and sailing all are significant pastimes too. Mal and Lee love the outdoors and are regular campers, cyclists and bush walkers.

Mal is pleased to be the first Residential Accommodation Manager for Morling Residential College (MRC). He is looking forward to contributing and seeing MRC turn into a haven away from home for the students who choose to live there.

Tiana Barenaba

Administration Assistant

Tiana joined the MRC team as the friendly face on Reception in November 2016, whilst studying Advanced Science at UNSW. Tiana has a passion for teaching people life skills, supporting and encouraging students on their individual journeys, and building genuine relationships.

These passions have led her to work in a variety of roles – as a Music Director of her own business conducting adult-age choirs and orchestras, as an Adventure Camp host teaching Australian and international students survival skills, archery and abseiling, and as Emergency Response personnel in the Rural Fire Service.

Tiana loves meeting new people and the ocean-related activities, and most weekends you will find her swimming miles from shore at a quiet beach in the middle of nowhere, spending time with her siblings or dancing around the kitchen singing into a spoon.

Tiana is delighted to be MRC’s Residential Administration Assistant and enjoys working alongside Mal in building and developing a sense of community for those who live here.
